Communication Matters

March 27, 2007 – 12:09 am

Recently, there was a dispute in Lelong.com.my when a Buyer made numerous enquiries regarding the status of his item which the Seller did not bother to reply as he said that he has already notified the Buyer by email together with shipping ID.

Personally, I have also faced Buyers who wanted to know EVERYTHING about their package.

Consistent enquiries can be a little difficult for small time Sellers to handle sometimes. There was once a Buyer who mailed me numerous times as soon as she made payment, asking me when I can ship it out.

Well, I too would love to ship it out as soon as possible but then when she mails me, I am forced to reply her and that took my time away from the task at hand; to wrap her item so that it could be shipped out.

I believe all genuine Sellers understand the anxiousness felt by Buyers, especially Buyers who are new to online shopping. What some Buyers do not understand is that we Sellers are only human and we only have a pair of hands so they can’t expect us to reply their email and SMS and yet ship out their packages at lightning speed, can they?

If Sellers and Buyers are reasonable and allow each other a little space and yet communicate at a comfortable level, that would be ideal. But whoever said that we live in an ideal world?
