9 Octopus Free Auction Site
May 23, 2007 – 10:33 amOne of my jobs as an e-trader is to continuously seek out marketplaces, whether auction platforms or forums. One thing about traders, they hardly share such information. I mean, who wants to share a gold mine with another? So, it’s a rather lonely road to travel but the satisfaction of self-discovery is hard to beat.
While randomly surfing the internet, I came across 9 Octopus. I do not know how long this site has been in existence but it looks really Ah Beng, with all the Chinese text on the homepage. I don’t read Chinese, maybe that’s why.
Anyway, the good news is that this is a free listing auction site. Could this be the next best thing after Lelong.com.my? I was a member of a couple of Malaysian auction platforms before but they shut one after another until I don’t even remember their names anymore now.
Another advantage of 9 Octopus is that it only costs MYR1 per day for leader board banner advertising on the homepage while Lelong is charging MYR10. I know it is not fair to point out the price difference without comparing traffic and demographics but a difference of an annual advertising budget of MYR360 and MYR3650 makes a hell of a difference!
I may be testing the market here, if only I could find the time to list my inventory on 9 Octopus.
