A Tremendous Learning Experience

May 16, 2007 – 12:00 pm

When I first ventured into online trading, I was telling myself that should I fail or succeed, I am not going to lose because what I will be gaining is the experience. No doubt, if I fail, I would have lost time, energy and money, but the experience will be unique to each venture and like the saying goes, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained”.

Now, few years down the road, I would not say I am a big success but I am managing quite well and did not lose any money. Instead, I have surprisingly gained insights into the world of online retail business from sourcing products to marketing them to handling customers (by the way, PEOPLE are always the most difficult to handle) while balancing the books.

And most of all, something that I did not think about before I started, I unexpectedly made friends with my Buyers and fellow traders. I never factored this in while I was contemplating going into etrading. What occupied my mind was my supplies and budget. So the friendships forged are a real bonus.

When my friends tell me that they too want to be an online trader like me (you will be surprised at how many people dream of trading online and quitting their day job because they think it is very EASY), I encourage them to go for it but only if they plan well and KEEP THAT DAY JOB!
