About College Student Loans
May 18, 2007 – 10:01 amIn a previous post, I wrote about friends who are bogged down with College student loans. On one hand, it is great that they were given the opportunity to complete their college education with the loan. I agree that paper qualification is very important even if one has to go into debt for it. However, I feel that most college students are too young to understand the consequences and responsibilities of taking out a student loan.
For one, I believe that many of us do not receive adequate student financial aid information and advice compared to now when such information is easily available on the internet.
I have friends who took out international student loans. The loans are really burdensome but they thought that such loans are a lifeline for foreign students. Granted, getting a student loan is not all bad as there ARE student loan benefits and savings as well.
However, from my own experience and that of friends, getting through the student loan repayment process is a very long and arduous road to travel. It s not impossible, but firstly, the borrower must know his repayment period and options.
