Do You Want The Business?

May 29, 2007 – 11:17 am

It amazes me that recently, a company took FIVE days to reply to my enquiry. I wonder, if they are doing business or not. When a reply is delayed so many days, what do you expect your potential customer to think.

Do you expect him to wait for you to reply, which may never happen?

Time and tide wait for no man, or woman for that matter. You may be delayed in your reply, but does your customer care? I don’t think so. Nobody wants to know if there’s something happened that caused the delay. Five days in internet time is like five long years.

I have experienced this before. There was once when my monitor blacked out on me and I was a few hours slow in replying. Well, my potential buyer wrote back with a short, “I am not interested anymore.”

What could I say? Does he care that my monitor was out of order that delayed my reply? Heck, of course not. Within the time that he wrote to me and the time I replied, no matter if it is just a few short hours or even days, he is at liberty to take his business elsewhere.

The faster one acts, the faster one is able to clinch a deal. Do not allow time gap for your potential buyer to search for a better, cheaper alternative.
