eBay Phishing Attempt
May 9, 2007 – 9:18 pmI have complained of receiving phishing mail from fraudsters in my other blog and so far, have received these email in my email address that is not on eBay or PayPal file, so I did not bother with them.
However, yesterday, I received the following email in my eBay email address with the Subject: Your eBay Account Could Be Suspended, but thankfully, the mail fell into my Junk Folder, so I was not caught off guard.

If you just take a look at my screenshot, hovering my cursor over the link that I was asked to click on will take me to a non-eBay site. Moreover, all authentic email from eBay (or PayPal for that matter), should address us by our real name and not “Dear Member” or Hello.
Having said this, phishers are now more advanced so even if the email addresses you by name does not guarantee anything. To determine the authenticity of your email, sign in to eBay (paid site) and check your My Messages page.
Of course, after receiving this email (do note that they always make it sound urgent so that you WILL click on the provided link without a second thought), being the lawful citizen that I am, I forwarded it to spoof@ebay.com and promptly receive a reply confirming that the email was not sent by eBay.
Hello and welcome to my blog. I would love to receive your comments! If you wish to be updated on new content, do subscribe to my RSS feed on your feed reader or via email. Thanks for visiting!
