Proof Of Payment: No Proof, No Payment
May 12, 2007 – 1:00 pmI feel that Buyers are obligated to show proof of payment, especially if the Seller is a very popular Seller who has a roaring business. No one can expect Sellers like this to keep tab of every deposit, right?
As a Buyer, if possible, it is best to scan, capture with digital camera or fax the deposit slip to the Seller to proof that payment has been made.
There have been cases where the payment was actually made by another persona while the item was sent to the fraudulent Buyer so one a Seller cannot be extra careful.
A Seller will normally not request for proof of payment. However, if the amount is big and the Buyer acts suspiciously or is rude, it is the Seller’s prerogative to request for it and the Buyer would have to provide the proof.
Many Sellers hold to the policy of “No proof, no payment”. Therefore, if you are a Buyer, even if you do not provide proof at the first instance, you should keep your receipts well and be ready should your Seller require you to do so.
