Purchasing A Domain Name
May 4, 2007 – 6:08 amI once bought a domain name for only MYR0.99 and I was so happy with the deal I managed to get. I wonder, how much is one willing to pay for a domain name? Is it worth to buy a name, without an established business, for a few hundred dollars?
I am wondering because I was told that someone bought a domain name for two million Ringgit sometime back. To me, two million Ringgit for just a name is definitely not worth it. I do not think that the name is particularly special although I shall not be disclosing the name here lest the buyer and seller would know that I am discussing about them.
Anyway, for two million Ringgit, I could well buy ANY domain name cheaply and use the balance to build my web reputation. Why should I buy a name for two million Ringgit and then run out of budget to advertise the website? It is akin to buying a luxury car and keeping it locked in the garage because I have no money for gas.
