Read the Terms & Conditions

May 6, 2007 – 10:03 pm

I find that many people do not like to read, or even if they do, they fail to understand simple English. Usually, these are the people who will come back to you and say that you did not let them know such and such when in the first place they are the ones who failed to read the whole text.

Did you know why large corporations have pages and pages of terms and conditions? That’s because they know that most people are lazy to read the fine prints and so they like this hide some sticky terms right in the middle of their Terms of Use or Terms of Service or Terms and Conditions.

If you think that this is unscrupulous of them, that’s how the way things are and that’s where they make their money; by penalizing people who failed to read the fine print.

So as a lesson, do red the fine print especially when you would like to use the services of any website or sign a document or contract. Ask if you are not sure of the terms that are stated in the contract. It’s no excuse to be ignorant, you know?
