And Now It’s JP Morgan Chase
June 27, 2007 – 7:55 amAs phishing attempts become more intense over at the home front, I am getting more and more scam emails purportedly from various financial institutions, including PayPal and also eBay. It never fails to amaze me where they managed to obtain my private email address.
I have an email address that I use exclusively to sign up for mailing lists and other junk sites that force us to sign up for their newsletters and what-not in order to benefit a little from their “free service/product”.
And then I have a public email address that I use to advertise my WebStore. But lately, these phishing mails have been sent to my private email address. Freaky, isn’t it?
The latest attempt is by “JP Morgan Chase”, you know, the investment bank. I admit, I WISH I have an account with them, but I don’t. Too bad, isn’t it? I don’t think there is a branch in Malaysia, at least not that I know of!
Tough luck (for the scammers)!
