Email From “Bank of America”
June 8, 2007 – 12:37 amThe other day, I received an email from “Bank of America” informing me that my account has been blocked. Wow, how I wish that I have a Bank of America account! Obviously, it was a phishing attempt. I feel that this problem is really rampant. Is there a way to stop such email from even arriving to my inbox?
I shudder to think what would happen and what a mess it would create should someone with a Bank of America account really think that this is a legit message and then click on the link and compromise on his/her password, personal and financial information.
It was easy for me to determine it as a phishing attempt since I do not hold a Bank of America account and even if I did, I would not have used that email address. However, not every one is alert all the time and some people would click on just about anything that comes through email.
This is a real menace that should be addressed pronto but I can’t think of a solution save for manual deletion as they come in.
