Email Server Delayed
June 10, 2007 – 9:50 amRecently, there was a problem with the email server of Lelong. Email communication is vital in etrading. Like me, 90% of my correspondence is via email with only a small percentage via SMS text, phone call and instant messenger.
So you can imagine the chaos that happened due to miscommunication between Buyer and Seller. When there are no replies to an email, we tend to think that the party is no longer interested in the transaction.
So there was a case where one Buyer thought that his Seller does not want to sell anymore and he did not pursue the matter but instead bought a similar item from another Seller.
Once the email server was restored, this poor Buyer received a slew of payment reminders from the Seller and also reminders from Lelong. Can you imagine the confusion that he has to face?
Come to think of it, Lelong Admin promised to get back to me personally when my Private Messenger failed but until today, I have not heard back from him. Has it been three months already or more? I don’t even remember.
My point is that email and private messenger services are very crucial in the success of etrading. Any break down in communication will cause us to lose business.
