Expiration of Credit Card
June 4, 2007 – 11:12 amI have been told that many people received an error message when linking their credit card to their PayPal account. Well, I made the same mistake too a long time ago as it was my very first credit card and I did not see the fine print properly.
My card actually showed “Good through 10/10″ which in fact meant October, 2010 but I thought that it was 10th October because that was coincidentally the date that I put in my application!
In fact, I input the same 10th October as my card expiration date so many times that PayPal asked me to enroll in expanded use and then barred my card. I could not even use it with PayPal anymore even though the card just came through the mail! EEekkkk
And when PayPal barred my card, it is already useless to me because I applied for it specifically for PayPal. So I had no choice but to write in to PayPal and to my credit card issuer. Come to think of it, until today, PayPal never addressed my email at all but the problem was resolved when my credit card issuer replaced my card with a new set of numbers. I do not remember if I was charged for a card replacement but this time round, I made sure that I had entered the correct expiration date!
Sometimes oversight like these could cause us problems and delays or even lose some money, but it is a valuable lesson that I continue to share with others.
