How To Open An HSBC USA Account?

June 13, 2007 – 9:11 am

The other day, I posed a question in a forum about HSBC USA account and one member thought that I am so ignorant that I do not know how to differentiate an HSBC US account with an HSBC USD account.

We, Malaysians, and people who are in the same boat, are of course very interested to open an HSBC USA account while at this point in time, nobody would want a USD account since the Dollar is dropping almost daily.

Many people think that it is impossible for someone who has never set foot on American soil before to open a US Bank account. Well, that is a myth. You may know that HSBC’s tag line is “Your World’s Local Bank”. Well, they truly are!

One way to open an HSBC account overseas by mail is firstly, be an HSBC account holder. If you have enough funds to be a Premium account holder, all the better. After one year, you can request for the opening of an account with a foreign HSBC bank, not only USA, provided you have been a customer of good standing.

If you are an ordinary HSBC account holder, you will have to pay you local bank GBP50 for their help in submitting your application but if you are a Premium customer, you will be served FREE.

There is another way of course but that is another blog post for another day. So stay tuned!
