Maybank’s S$ iSAVvy Savings Account

June 21, 2007 – 4:03 am

For those of you who have thought of going over to Singapore to open a Singapore bank account, well, I think you have a better option now. Maybank is now allowing Malaysians to open an account, S$ iSAVvy Savings Account, with Maybank Singapore.

Anyone with a Maybank Malaysia account above 18 years old of good standing is eligible to apply and you need not even go over to Singapore since accounts can be opened via your local Maybank branch. Only a minimum deposit of SGD500 is required. There’s nothing to stop you from withdrawing after you have successfully opened your account since holding balance is only SGD10.

I think this is the way banks should operate. Most banks now have branches in many countries around the world. They should link up with each other and allow customers free use of their international facilities.

Now that people are traveling so freely, so should their money be freely and legally available as well.
