Midnight Calls

June 26, 2007 – 10:10 am

It is funny that because you are a full time e-trader, people tend to think that you do not work “office hours”. Many times, Buyers will call the Seller on the phone outside of the unofficial office hours, some calling in the wee hours of the morning, some even calling way past midnight.

And when these Sellers do not answer the phone because they would like to discourage people from making such calls outside of normal working hours, these Seller runs the risk of being called a snob.

It is like because a lot of etraders work from home, many people think that they work 24 hours a day. Are etraders a special breed of robotic people who are made of steel? Buyers tend to think we are.

Personally, though, the earliest I have ever received an order was at 5am via a text message and the latest was at 11pm via a phone call. I don’t mind actually, since I wasn’t in bed yet and even if I was, it IS business, you know? So there is nothing to complain about but I am me and the other Sellers are, well, other people.

So if you want to make a phone order, do be considerate of the time. We too work “regular” hours, you know?
