Pay For The Exposure!
June 1, 2007 – 7:59 amA couple of days ago, I received a spam mail from the owners of a new Malaysian auction site. I do not encourage spam so I am not going to mention what new site it is or the address. I always believe that if you are going into business, you must not be cheap. Like this company, since they set up this commercial site then pay for advertising.
I do where they managed to get my email address. I have it listed on my friend’s online directory, which is currently the country’s most comprehensive web directory. It has brought me many new browsers, some became Buyers, but at the same time, I am getting a lot of spam mail as well. Not that I am complaining because I can always have it removed, but like I said, companies should PAY FOR THE EXPOSURE.
I am not sure if I have mentioned it before, there are two upstarts providing the same services to the Malaysian market. One company paid for their advertisement listing and the other did not. Naturally, the one who did not pay for it and yet requested for a free listing was denied because they are a commercial entity. The one who paid for their advertisement also were generous in compensation for people who put their name out while the kuhorn kiamsiap company (can’t blame them because they may have a smaller budget) only compensated selected people, taking the rest for a ride.
Let’s see who will survive longer using these two different marketing strategies.
