PayPal - A Ray Of Hope?
June 12, 2007 – 11:44 amThere a slight glimmer of hope from PayPal indicating that Malaysia is not a forgotten country. With effect from 4th June, 2007, PayPal users who are in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines will have its very own dedicated Customer Support Line.
You may know that users in Singapore and Thailand have the complete PayPal features while Malaysians can only receive or make payments but cannot withdraw funds locally. However, members in the Philippines have a worse deal than us.
Last month, when PayPal was experiencing the worst of its technical glitch, my friend was desperate enough to give PayPal a call in the United States. Can you imaging the phone bill that she ran up for being put on hold for ages?
Right now, if we do have any problem with our PayPal account, we can just dial +65-6510-4650 which is already listed on the ‘Contact Us” page on PayPal.
Hopefully, a dedicated Customer Support Line is just a step towards a completely open PayPal market to Malaysians.

it’s about time paypal make a move on improving their services here. i was forced to stop some money-making ventures in the blogosphere just because my paypal account (philippines) does not accept/receive payments!!! and the company i wrote for only pays its writers through paypal. what a bummer.

Hi peachy!
Thanks for your comment. I really do understand the frustrations of being treated like this as if we were second class.
What is worse for you in the Philippines, is, from what I undestand, being able to receive funds but not send out or withdraw. In this case, how can you ever see the money? If you can’t send out, can you pay for your online purchases?
I hope that soon, PayPal will open up to us over here. That can’t come soon enough!
