The Art Of Replying To Comments

For the past two weeks, I have been visiting many blogs and leaving comments. Most of the blogs visited have implemented Do Follow so leaving a comment is an incentive, but it definitely is not the sole purpose. Reading all the various blogs, I have been exposed to the daily problems of the life of ordinary folks but that is another topic for another ~~blog~~ day.

One thing I learnt though, is that when I have left a comment, and I do usually subscribe to receive email alerts for follow up replies, the blog owner will reply to my comment by sending me an email, regardless of my subscription.

This is something new to me. I think I should implement this since my blog template has no option to subscribe to comments, at least I don’t think there is. Perhaps it is one of those WordPress plug-ins, I am not even sure.

A genuine commenter will leave a valid email address when commenting but there is no such option for Blogger blogs. Most of the comments that I received, when I was still using Blogger, are linked to the blog of the commenter while some opted not to display their blog in public. I think it is a shame to not be able to check out who came to read our blogs.

But now that I have this option, I think I will do it. It may be more work for me but it will save the commenter’s time.

if you want your visitors to come back, do implement the subscribe to comment thing. its a wordpress plugin so you can basically just add it in.

Ah Wilson, thanks for the tip. People tell me that WordPress is highly customizable. If only I know how!

Thanks for visiting and commenting too. Sometimes I am curious where people found my blog and it would be great to leave a reciprocal comment whenever possible.

its my pleasure Cybergal. i have implemented the subscribe to comment so that my commenters knows when there is a new reply to the post. its really a good thing when i see it on others blog.
i will feel more better to put in a comment or two as i knw there will be an email informing me when there is a reply.
i haven’t implement the dofollow yet. haven’t got much time to do that as i’m still tinkering around with a new theme …
