The Stupidest Thing
June 7, 2007 – 8:15 pmI went to the Public Bank ATM to register my mobile number because I wanted to update my address in my profile online. I read that we need to get the PAC to be able to do so. After trying all the machines, there was no option because, I finally found out, we could only do that with an ATM card, while mine is a PR Advantage debit card.
So I waited for the bank to open to get my mobile number registered. I waited more than thirty minutes for my turn. Whoever said that Public Bank has the best customer service? It’s no longer true, I guess.
Anyway, it was finally done and I was told that it will work after 7pm on the same evening. I went online to request for PAC that same night but the PAC never came. So I thought that perhaps my number is still not ready yet. Fine.
The following morning, I tried again. The PAC only arrived more than fifteen minutes later but by then, I was already logged out from the system. For the PAC to work, we have to match it with the Serial number, but because I kept being logged out WHILE waiting for the PAC to arrive via SMS, I spent more than an hour requesting multiple PAC numbers before I managed to get one to come IN TIME that matches the serial number and for me to update my profile without being logged out of the system and render my PAC invalid.
Have you ever felt that you are forced to be part of something stupid while you have no control over the outcome? This was easily the case.

I used Maybank2u and it also need the TAC number whenever I want to transfer money to third party account or interbank transfer. The same thing happens. Sometimes the TAC number just never arrive!

I think they should make it easier for users if they want to implement security measures.
It just made me feel like a dunggu requesting for PAC over and over again and then discovering that my serial number and PAc don’t match!

It’s very dumb if they keep timing out before the darn PAC/TAC could arrive.

Yup, but then for Public Bank, they will give me ANOTHER serial number which will not match the PAC that comes via SMS. One word - LECEH!
