What Is A Contact Form For?

June 12, 2007 – 3:05 am

Recently, I wrote to two companies through the Contact form on their website. I actually wanted to participate in their programs but had a few doubts so I made my enquiry. They did ask us to contact them if we needed further information.

After hitting submit, I received the message that the staff will get back to me within 72 hours for one company and the other mentioned “as soon as possible”. Well, it has been more than a few 72 hours already and I still did not receive a reply from them.

I wonder, what is the use of putting up a Contact or Support form on the site and inviting questions when they have no intention to attend to messages that come in? When 72 hours is mentioned, I expect to receive a reply by 72 hours, and definitely not AFTER. If they can’t meet the demand of replying to messages within the stipulated time frame that they themselves set, then do away with the numbers.

For goodness sake, these are commercial sites. Do they want to do business or not? For me, companies who are unable to attend to their email are giving a very bad image of themselves. It is as if they are telling the customer that they couldn’t care less.

With companies like these, I am thinking more than two times if I should have further dealings with them.
