Checking Out The Competition
July 20, 2007 – 11:40 amMany people think that when you are selling your wares online, you list them out in a marketplace and business will come to you. It’s more than that, honestly, besides taking care of procurement, marketing, sales, photography accounting, customer service, shipping and answering lots of dud enquiries which we still have to despite knowing that a person is not serious in buying.
Anyway, another aspect of being in this business is to check out the competition. One will not believe the hours I spent surfing the internet before I decided to venture into this business and also the hours I spent online learning from other Sellers. Check out the competition, people who are also selling similar products and also the veteran Sellers because there are things to learn every day.
One thing to keep in mind is to see what your competitions offer in terms of shipping, freebies and of course, pricing and discount, if any. Another thing to keep a look out for is tools that could make life easier for you to as an online seller. Maybe there is a new free layout or a new tool that helps you upload your listings. Or maybe there is a new place for you to holtlink your images over and for free. That will save you a lot of money in listing fees. I do not believe in paying for stuff unnecessarily. Haha
In short, if you want to be an online Seller, checking out other sellers is your job now. If you run your own store, you have to check various ecommerce sites as well, like me. But that is another post for another day!
