Hyundai Lally

July 22, 2007 – 1:45 pm

Over the weekend, I was out shopping and there were a few car distributors who displayed their new cars in the concourse area trying to get some bookings from shoppers and potential car buyers.

Well, that’s nothing exceptional, actually, expect that we were approached by one of the Hyundai car sales girls who kept talking about the Hyundai LALLY. My goodness! We know she meant Rally and we know she is Chinese educated, hence the missing R sound but why did the company send her out to the front line to sell the car? It was terrible and embarrassing.

It looks to us as if she does not even know what she was selling.

Sales people, although on the low rung of the scale, are actually very important people. They are the first people customers talk to and they have to carry the image of the company tot he general public.

I remember some years back where I used to window shop at a supermarket. Sales men and women there wore uniforms with holes at the shoulder, collar and even armpit. What sort of image was that???? I really wanted to talk to the management but I did not. In the end, this particular supermarket was taken over by Tesco and the staff had new uniforms.

If companies not take care of the image that they portray, which is the first responsibility of the sales team, then they can’t expect to get much sales, can they???
