Mystery Shopping At An Ice Cream Parlour

July 14, 2007 – 7:20 am

One of the things I hate about living in my city, although the cost is considerably lower, is that I lose out on a lot of amazing opportunities. I received an email which reminded me of my disadvantage a couple of days ago.

I was actually invited to be a mystery shopper and what I was expected to do was to dine at a very popular ice cream parlour in Kuala Lumpur. This particular Ice cream parlour has many outlets and from the given schedule for one week, we were expected to dine in or take out.

That is a job I definitely would love to accept. However, I had to decline because going all the way there is just not worth it.

We would be paid MYR5 for out effort and all the money spent on ice cream that we have ordered when we dine in or take out will be reimbursed as long as we have a receipt to show. Moreover, we would also be reimbursed for parking and any incidental expenses backed with receipts.

I have written about mystery shoppers before and I think that major companies should engage the services of mystery shoppers at least twice a year. Mystery shoppers provide spot checks to these outlets or branches which the management may otherwise are unable to do.

I support mystery shopping. Just that I hope that the network can expand a little!
