Are Radar Detectors Legal?
August 11, 2007 – 9:35 amMy sister who lives in the United States told me that the radar detector is legal to be used in non-commercial vehicles in America.
I was surprised because it is definitely illegal in Malaysia. However, I am uncertain if a person caught having a radar detector mounted or hidden in his car would get away with just a fine or a heavier punishment.
However, my sister said that it is still illegal in the states of Virginia and Washington D.C. Well, I will never understand why America needs to have different rules in different states. Perhaps the land is too large.
Also, it is illegal to be used in chimerical vehicles. I also don’t understand the logic. Maybe the legislators think that a speeding commercial vehicle over 10,000lbs is way more dangerous than a speeding private vehicle. But then a speeding private vehicle is just as dangerous to the driver and passengers themselves. Don’t you think so?
