Bank Account Information
August 31, 2007 – 3:48 amMy friend, who runs his own website, was asked by a potential client for his bank account information so that he could make a deposit for the service he intends to purchase.
Unfortunately, this potential client failed to make that deposit as promised. My friend asked me if his bank account information was compromised.
I don’t think so because it is not possible to withdraw money from the account with just the name and number unless he has a photocopy of MyKad and even then he would need to sign in the same style.
If he has cloned an ATM card with the details, then he would need the right password. Don’t tell me that there’s a master password like a master key?

I wouldn’t think that the bank account was compromised, however I would always be more carful than to give out details like that. I would inform the bank of his intentions and they may be able to set up a secure payment channel without the need for his details.
