Brand Impression
August 24, 2007 – 11:03 pmThe other day, I was talking with my friend who just bought a new laptop. Well, I am looking for a reasonable priced laptop as well. So my friend says she bought it from a friend who could give her a good price but the shop only carries one brand name, the brand that she bought.
So I told her I am not keen. While I do not have any idea yet which brand or model to buy, I am not going to spend MYR3,000 to MYR4,000 on a laptop of this brand.
Although I have not used their laptops before, I have used their other products and I was never satisfied with their performance. Previously, another friend also wanted to sell me LCD screens of this brand at a low price, since he is the dealer but I declined the offer.
People tell me this company has improved but the impression has been that they manufacture electronic products of sub-standard quality and I am not going to risk my money on them. I remember the hassle I went through with this brand name and now I would rather pay a little more for a brand name that is more reliable.
What I want to say is that brand impression is very important. Once a negative impact has been made, it’s not easy to redeem themselves.

I would not buy any products from a company, which currently didn’t care for its moral and social responsibilitys. But I agree - bad products are always a cause to avoid a company…

Hi Eliot,
Thanks for your comment!
Impressions are hard to change. Although a few of my friends have told me that their purchases are performing great, I am still not convinced and am unprepared to go through with the problem of having a sub-standard product.
