Compiling Mailing Lists
August 20, 2007 – 11:49 pmWhen I have lots of free time on my hands no thanks to slow business, I tend to check out what my trading colleagues are doing and if it’s a general trend that business is slow of if it just myself.
A friend of mine told me that contrary to popular belief that summer is a slow season for online trading, he has been doing roaring business. He said that the trick is to compile Mailing Lists of potential buyers who are genuinely interested in his products and never fail to inform these people at once when stocks have arrived and are ready to be sold.
He told me that he knows of people who actually BUY these mailing lists since these are like small investments to a business. However, he told he that he left a form on his site that allows people to opt-in to his mailing lists, depending on what products they would like to be updated on.
This way, subscribers to his mailing lists are genuinely looking forward to his products and ready to buy from him while he is assured that he will not offend anyone by sending out unsolicited mails.
What a great idea this is. I think I will be implementing that on my store too!
