Dang Those Phishers!

August 9, 2007 – 6:27 am

I am sure we have heard of all the PayPal horror stories and there’s even a SUCKY website where all “victims” air their grievances. While I am angry with phishers for trying to phish for information from me and other internet users, what I do not like is that when these email come in with subject titles like, “Restricted access” or something like that, it makes my heart drop for a minute, until I log into my account and see that everything is actually in order, thank God.

These emails are especially heart stopping especially when I just did a transaction on PayPal. I think some weak hearted people may even get a minor stroke.

It’s maddening that even though we are alert enough not be phished, these fraudsters are still able to terrorize us indirectly.

  3. Hi Kak Long!

Thanks for coming by and commenting.

It’s scary to think that there are people falling victim every single day *sigh*

  4. A while back, I had someone hijack my paypal account with two charges. The first one was $1,000 and change. The second was over $5,000 with my Citibank as a backup. Within 5 minutes of the transaction, Citibank and Paypal both called me. I was a tad embarrassed because I consider myself pretty “tech savvy”, but I was glad that they were proactive and stopped it right away. The moral is…be careful.

  5. Hi!

I think you are very lucky to be able to stop the charges. I must say Citibank is so efficient.

And you are right. We have to be careful, even though an email may seem like it’s from somebody we know.
