Sealing Love With A Diamond Ring
August 11, 2007 – 10:15 amIn a post not too long ago, I questioned the importance of diamond rings. I do not deny the glamour factor and diamonds are the best friends of some girls. However, I still believe that people should not go into debt just to get a diamond ring for the occasion when they could opt for a cheaper alternative.
I have met far too many people who start off life as a married couple in debt and when I asked them what they spent their money on when they got married, they said on jewelry, flowers, costumes, photography and alcohol.
It is a shame that they could cut down on these expenses but they choose not to and preferred to charge these on their credit cards. Hence they will have to service their cards monthly and the burden would be so much heavier when the kids arrive.
Don’t get me wrong, though. I do think that diamond rings are great for sealing a couple’s love but only if they could well afford them.
