What IS This??
August 22, 2007 – 2:40 pmThe other day, when I wrote the post Whoa! This Is Just Grand!, I thought it was a one-off thingy and since it is a legitimate directory, I thought nothing more of it. Besides, the directory brought me some traffic so it was a good thing.
However, today, I received two rather similar emails from two different websites, thanking me for my membership. The odd thing is that I DID NOT register myself with them and until now, I do not know what sites these are. They have a link at the bottom of the email but I will not simply click on the, especially when they are something like: http://52.09.247/ for example!
They don’t even have a REAL domain name!
Anyway, in the email, they provided me with a temporary User ID, temporary log-in ID and a temporary password and saying that the information will expire should I not log in to update my account information within 24 hours.
So I am going to file this post under Scam Trend because this definitely looks like it!
