What’s With All Those Greeting Cards?

August 10, 2007 – 9:38 am

I am not sure if I am the only person receiving all those eCards. For the past most, I have been receiving them almost every day. They were purportedly from my friends, family members, school mates, co-workers, neighbours and even worshippers (!) and these cards are from little known eCard sites.

Well, I am assuming they ARE from real eCards site. I don’t even know for sure because no way am I going to pick up my eCard. Why? As far as I know, nobody has an occasion to send me any eCard.

It’s not anywhere near my birthday or anniversary and there is no cause to celebrate anything.

None of my family members has sent me an eCard before all these years since the popularity of the internet and eGreeting.

I did not keep in touch with my school mates.

My friends do not send me eCards out of the blue.

I am my own co-worker. Did I send any eCard to myself?

Is anyone experiencing something similar as well? I am not sure of the reason of this influx. All I can think of is that these are phishing attempts. Are they? I am only going to find out if I pick up the cards which I will not do. Guess I will never know, then! But as a word of caution, I don’t think we should click on any links in our email, EVEN IF IT IS FROM SOMEBODY WE KNOW.
