But You Are Only A Clerk!?!
September 24, 2007 – 10:19 pmWhen I went to the mobile phone shop to buy my Nokia E61i mobile device and migrate my prepaid line to postpaid, I wrote on the form that I am a clerk. While chatting with the sales girl who was getting the documents ready for me, she told me that E61i does not support touch screen and that touch screen is the “IN” thing. I told her that I bought E61i for its QWERTY keypad and it is cheap compared to a touch screen device.
And she went, “CHEAP??? MYR1799 and you say it is cheap? But you are a clerk ONLY!” flipping the registration card to check my occupation.
You know, that gave me the impression that she looked down on me for being a “Clerk”. So, does that mean that a clerk cannot own and use a E61i? Yes, I know it is an enterprise unit but there is nowhere written that only executives can use it, is there?
That spoilt my day because while I am not really a clerk and I could even buy more than one unit of E61i and another touch screen device, why is that because of my “job” I am being determined if I could afford an E61i or not??
This kind of attitude is the same as those adopted by car salesmen. A friend of mine went to check out cars dressed casually and those people thought that he does not have money to buy those cars. Nobody wanted to entertain him because they thought that it would be a waste of time. However, in the end my friend bought a new car and so did his brother. He subsequently traded in for another car and it was also through the same salesman. You see, the one who did not look down on my friend got the business over and over again.

Well, Wilson, we cannot stop people from thinking/saying what they want. I don’t want the E90. It’s too bulky. Even my guy friends say it’s too heavy for them.
