Citibank’s MYR100 For A Merc

September 21, 2007 – 10:40 am

I saw an advertisement this morning about spending MYR100 on your Citibank credit card at Suria KLCC and stand a chance to win a Mercedes Benz. Do you think this is so easy to win? How much can people change their Citibank credit card at KLCC even though they do have money in there? I mean, are there that many things to buy there?

It is contests like this that make weak-willed people bust their credit cards, when they want a chance to drive home a Mercedes Benz but honestly, the chances are so slim, unless you buy something that’s way expensive like a plasma TV but then if I were to buy a plasma TV, why would I buy it from KLCC when I have a friend who works as the manager of an electrical appliances store and would be able to give me a hefty discount?

Let’s say I find this contest reasonable, why do they only accept charges made at KLCC? Are shoppers elsewhere of lesser value to the bank? A move like this just alienates bank customers from other charging their cards elsewhere and that means loss of business to the bank.
