Internet Price
September 1, 2007 – 3:15 amI have surfed to many web stores and I noticed that those companies which have a brick-n-mortar establishment are selling their products online at an “internet price” and this is usually a few bucks or a percentage lower than their retail price. It is a better deal for the internet shopper if the store offers free shipping as well.
What is the logic behind the internet (discounted) price? Is it because an internet store has lower overhead cost hence they could afford to sell their products cheaper?
The other day, I was out shopping and came across a store which I bought something from. They have a website so when I came home, I checked out their online store and saw that an item selling for MYR8.90 at the real store was selling at MYR5.90 online.
However, this store does not offer free shipping so it adds up to almost the same out-of-pocket price or maybe more. I don’t know because they did not state their shipping rate.
Highly unprofessional, eh?
