Maybank’s TAC Request Delayed
September 27, 2007 – 1:21 pmMaybank issued a statement that they are aware of the technical glitch that causes a delay in the arrival of TAC. Well, although I am a user of Maybank2U, I have never requested for TAC on my mobile phone before because I get mine through the ATM all the time.
I did however, have a horrible experience with Public Bank’s PAC. Based on my observation, even if I were to request for TAC from Maybank, I would not face the same problem as I did with Public Bank’s PAC due to the way they are set up. Even so, a delay like this is never pleasant when it is required for us to do online banking.
Between these two systems, I personally think that they are losing to HSBC’s system. HSBC provides us with a security device for free although they wrote that this costs MYR50. Anyway, when we want to make an online transaction at online@hsbc, we would also require a TAC/PAC/Security Code but we just have to press a number from our security device.
Now, I don’t know if they device is battery powered or what. What if the numbers won’t come out if it is out of battery, if it is dropped or whatever? Perhaps that is when we have to pay the MYR50. Overall, it is still better than waiting senselessly for the TAC/PAC which may never arrive!
