Right Here, Right Now

When I first contemplated venturing into online business and dealing primarily in imported lingerie, I consulted a friend of mine who works as a risk manager and asked if it was the right time to do it. He told me that if I already have the business plan and did my research, I should just do it right here, right now or I never will. He said that there will NEVER be a “right” time and he is right, of course.

I hesitated in the first place because the USD was not favorable at MYR3.80 to the Dollar. Can you imagine the capital I have to come up with to import just US$1000 worth of products? Being a sole proprietor with every cent coming from my own pocket was not easy but my friend told me that if I were to wait for the USD to fall, it may happen tomorrow or a year later or it may never happen at all.

Of course, now we know that the Malaysian government has depegged the Ringgit and it is now trading at MYR3.42 to the Dollar. However, since I am already in business, I could easily adjust my cost without suffering from a loss due to the fluctuating currency.

I guess I already set my mind but I just needed an assurance and a slight push to get me going. I am glad I did take that first step, after all, the first step is said to be the hardest.
