US vs. Malaysian Debit Card
September 15, 2007 – 9:25 amI have a US currency debit card and a Malaysian currency debit card. My sister told me that I should charge my US card when I make purchases from foreign online stores and charge my Malaysian card when I purchase locally, online or offline.
I am wondering, my US card does not have any benefit to me while my Malaysian card gives me cash back of 0.5%. Cash back cards at the best out of all the cards that have rewards for charging them. Redemption points or frequent flyer points do nothing for me.
However, the Malaysian currency isn’t so hot at the moment and at the point of writing this, it stands at MYR3.50 to the US dollar.
My question is, do I benefit more using my Malaysian debit card or US currency debit card when I make online purchase from a store out of Malaysia? I wish there is an easy way to calculate which card benefits me more in terms of savings.
