Fake eBay Message?
October 31, 2007 – 11:09 pmThis morning, I received a message from a Buyer that was purportedly sent via eBay’s messaging system. The odd thing was that the item that he was truing to pay me was for a pair of Johnny Depp socks. Now, you know that I never sell socks, don’t you? So I got all suspicious because there’s no where in Heaven that eBay’s messaging system could screw up this badly that they sent the message to the wrong Seller.
I logged into my eBay account and accessed My Messages. Not surprisingly, this email message was not in there. I have mentioned time and again that id the message was really sent via the system by your Buyers or Sellers or system message, it will be reflected in your My Messages. If it’s not there, then just trash your message. Even if it’s a legitimate message, NEVER click on the links that come in these suspicious email messages.
A long time ago, I did click on a similar message but I quickly changed my password. Since that close call, I have learnt my lesson!
