Hospitals Being Run Like A Business
October 16, 2007 – 11:52 pmLast night, I was chatting with my friend and the topic of hospitals came up. He just renewed his medical insurance and he managed to secure a hospital job and also my sister was just discharged from the hospital! That was why the whole conversation centered on hospitals.
I was telling him that in Malaysia and also America, private hospitals are being run like a business entity. Sure, they need to cover their operating costs but then they are looking at profit at such an angle that they have lost their compassion.
If you have dealt with private practice doctors and/or private hospitals, you will know what I mean. It is terrible. They even charge you interest if you fail to settle your hospital bill on time!
Yes, I have had my fair share of dealing with hospitals so that is why I think medical insurance is so very important!
