PayPal Withdrawal To Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card Cleared
October 9, 2007 – 11:54 pmThere’s good news today. My withdrawal of US$500 to my Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card has cleared.
Here are the answers to all who have been waiting for an outcome, including myself. Looks like I am going to answer my own questions.
1. How long did it take?
I initiated a withdrawal on 4th October. Today is 9th October. That means it took a total of 5 days inclusive of the weekend.
2. Fees
PayPal deducted US$5 from my withdrawal of US$500. So the total withdrawal into my debit card was only US$495.
As you can see from my screenshot, I have a balance of RM1776.54. My balance before my transfer was RM113.60. That means the US$450 has been converted into RM1662.94
Based on today’s currency exchange rate, RM1662.94 is US$489.604. Remember, I was supposed to receive US$495 which is RM1681.07. This means that US$5.40 or RM18.33 has been deducted for this withdrawal.
Total charges: PayPal (US$5) + Visa and/or Public Bank OR unfavourable exchange rate (US$5.40) = US$10.40
Instead of the exchange rate that I should get (3.396), I am only getting about 3.36 to the Dollar.
Conclusion: Will I continue to withdraw to my debit card since I am losing an additional 1% per withdrawal compared to my normal mode of withdrawal? Only if I am lazy to go to town to withdraw my money. Public Bank, on the other hand, is very near my house

Hi Steve,
Would appreciate if you list my post on the successful withdrawers via Public Bank Visa Electron. I have yet to withdraw cash from my card via ATM so cannot confirm if there is a charge in withdrawal.
