Regaining An Iota of Independence
October 5, 2007 – 7:20 amA thought came to my mind recently that when we get old, many of us have to give up our dignity. And I thought that we do not have to do that and the children and family must see to it that we don’t. This thought came to my mind when I went to visit a friend who has an elderly mother and a handicapped sister. Life is not good but they are spiritually strong people and they take this as a test from God.
Saying that things are fated or in the hands of God is one thing but if possible, we can help to make living so much more enjoyable despite everything. One thing is that once mobility is gone, freedom flies out the window as well.
One way to help them regain their independence is to install Stairlifts at home. This will not even help the two people who need it but also lessen the work of the caregivers. Can you imagine helping them up and down the stairs numerous times throughout the day? It must be very tedious, don’t you think so?
