Replicas
October 3, 2007 – 8:45 amI wrote quite a few posts on replicas and its market. If you recall, I have a friend who deals in replica watches. Did you know that although they may not be the real deal, some “branded” replica watches are sold at three figures? That, to me, is too expensive, and I would rather buy a lesser known real deal at that price, rather than buy a premium brand replica.
Anyway, this friend told me that his customers, although knowingly buy replicas from him, would still expect to receive an item like the real deal. This, of course is impossible because it is a replica and not the real thing. So, sometimes, my friend will wonder, “Do you understand English???”
On the whole, though, I am still surprised that there are people willing to pay this price for a replica watch, seeing the roaring business my friend is enjoying. Thankfully, there are buyers who are mature enough to know that they are buying and not expect too much for the price of a replica.
By the way, this friend explained to me the difference between a replica and an imitation. I wanted to write an article on it but I would have to check my email correspondence with him first
