Use Your Credit Card Wisely

October 2, 2007 – 11:14 am

Since I write quite a few posts on credit and debit cards, some people think that I am quite the “expert” although I am not! My posts are on my personal experience as a user and as related to me by friends.

Anyway, one question that is often asked is, “Which credit card is good?”

Frankly, there is no right or wrong answer because whether a credit card is good or not depends on your own lifestyle, requirements and usage.

Of course, my number one card is always the debit card but if I were to choose among all credit cards ONLY then my favorite is the Cash back credit cards.

One problem that most of my friends face is the misuse of credit cards. They then bust their credit score but fear not! There is the Secured Credit Cards which usually requires an upfront deposit from us. I do think that it is more expensive to maintain cards like these, worse when we are already have a low credit score but then some people just cannot live without a credit card!

When shopping for a credit card, I would like to caution that we should ALWAYS read and understand the finer terms of the cards. Do you know that many people were “caught” by the 0% APR credit card promotions? 0% or Low APR credit cards usually have a time frame to it. Make sure you do know if it is good for as short as 3 months or longer than 12 months. Of course, the longer the better.

Always read carefully and not get trapped! As always, use your credit card wisely.
