Total Damage: MYR3990
April 6, 2008 – 10:40 amYea, I finally closed my eyes and took the plunge in splurging on a laptop, the Fujitsu [Siemens] Esprimo U9200. If you have read my previous posts, I mentioned that I was eyeing the unit that was priced at MYR3,999. They have two other units with the same name and model number. One is MYR2799 and another one is MYR4,999.
So, I bought the one that I wanted. The retailer was able to give me her “best price” of MYR3,850. She showed me her cost price which was MYR3,799. But then I added 2Gig RAM which set me back by another MYR140. According to her, that is her cost price as well.
Whatever, 1gig RAM is only the minimum memory required to run Windows Vista. I haven’t got the time to tinker with it yet, so I don’t have any comments. However, it’s looking pretty good right now.
Many people discouraged me from buying the Esprimo U9200 mainly because of its old technology LCD screen. It is matte and not the current highly sought after crystal bright display, but I personally prefer matte screen over crystal bright. Another issue is that Esprimo is made in Germany, and I was told, rightly or wrongly, that these were assembled by robots and that humans find it difficult to unscrew to upgrade the system.
Well …. I still bought it. It better not let me down!
