28 Free SMS From Celcom Gimmick

June 17, 2008 – 2:57 am

Yesterday, I was very happy to receive an SMS from Celcom telling me that I could get my hands on 28 free SMS messages. yes, I am cheap that way. I am only getting 20 free SMS in my current plan. Twenty MISERABLE messages and for heavy texters like myself, I can finish twenty in an hour or less.

However, upon reading further, to be eligible for this 28 free SMS, I would have to purchase two songs from them. Urghhh who wants to buy their lousy songs? No wonder they need to do such a promotion to force us to buy their songs if we want to claim that free 28 SMS messages.

No way was I going to buy the two songs so I deleted that SMS message pretty quickly. Getting us to buy two songs in exchange for 28 free SMS messages means that not only will we not get the SMS for free, we even have to pay more!

  2. Hey there, I guess it’s applicable to anyone who’s already have an intention to purchase the songs. Thus, the free 28 SMS as a loyalty reward. Btw, saw a promo at BHPetrol Kayu Ara that Celcom will give FREE petrol vouchers for those who reload at BHP. I guess this another way for them to reward their customers. No hidden agenda I guess. Another way for them to contribute to the society perhaps?

  3. Hi PSS,

Yes, if you are coming from the other way, where you want the songs first and getting the free SMS as bonus, that’s good.

As for me, I won’t ever buy songs, ringtones, games and whatever mobile downloads. I’m cheap that way :-P
