More Than Just Directions From Point A To B
June 2, 2008 – 9:53 amA friend recently purchased a GPS capable mobile device and she told me what an intelligent program it is and how she could come to my house by keying in my address even though she has never been to my area before. I have seen how GPS works and I agree that it is very useful not only for directions from Point A to Point B and Point C but also as a tracking device.
Although I have not used any GPS tracking devices personally before, I know that this would be especially useful for tracking missing children or the elderly. How many times have you read before in the papers that children have been lost and the elderly went out and never came home because they suddenly had a lapse of memory? Have you ever thought that if these missing people had a tracking device on them, they could be easily located no matter where they are?
As a frequent express bus commuter, I have thought that GPS tracking would certain help in lowering the number of accidents by the fact that the express bus company would be able to track each and every vehicle in the fleet and how fast these vehicles are being driven.
I feel that GPS tracking should be made compulsory in public transportation. What do you think?
