Securing An Ecommerce Store
July 24, 2008 – 6:50 pmI was telling my friend that to run an ecommerce store that could process payment, we need to pay more than MYR100 per month. He commented that it is too expensive and with that amount of money, he could hire a designer to make it “nice, nice.”
Well, the thing is that it is not a matter of nice or not nice. When we run an ecommerce store, we need it to be SECURE. Buyers need to know that they have nothing to worry about charging their credit cards at our store, they need to know that their personal and financial information will be secure with us.
Design is secondary, I told him but he doesn’t really understand it. The fees to maintain the store is not so much to make it nice externally but to “buy” support services and payment processors. These are not cheap but it gives customers peace of mind and that is most important.
