eBay Malaysia: Billing Currency Change

August 28, 2008 – 10:42 pm

I am not sure how many of you noticed, I too would not know about this if I did not log in to my eBay Malaysia account. Well, eBay sent out a message, which I did not receive as notification via email, which informs us that eBay Malaysia Sellers will be billed in Ringgit by September 30th, 2008.

And then they continued and I quote:

We noticed that you are currently being billed in a foreign currency. If you would like to continue receiving your eBay bills in this currency instead of the Peso, please contact eBay Customer Support to opt out of the currency change.

I know that a team of eBay staff is in-charge of all eBay sellers in South East Asia but I think that more care and consideration should be given when sending out mass email like these. With this blunder of “Peso” instead of “Ringgit”, I feel as if I, as a Seller on eBay Malaysia, am insignificant in the global eBay community.

Anyway, the email informs that if we prefer to continue receiving our eBay listing bill in USD, we have to let them know before September 20th, 2008, after which, they will not be able to entertain our request to switch back to being billed in American Dollar. I don’t know why. I thought that it would be as easy as making a slight adjustment in their huge database.
