Lelong Imposes Listing Limit On All Sellers

August 13, 2008 – 7:39 pm

Lelong, the leading online auction marketplace here in Malaysia, has imposed a listing limit on all Sellers with effect from 8th August, 2008. The limitations are as follows:

1. Non Verified Members - 5 items at any one time (no change)
2. Verified Members - 200 items at any one time
3. Store Members - 500 items at any one time

Lelong, however, states that high volume Sellers who are Lelong Store holders would be able to request for a lifting of this limit, at their discretion.

Over the past couple of years, we have seen Lelong trying to cover the expanses of running the marketplace by running advertisements every nook and corner of the website. If that would help keep the marketplace almost free for us Buyers and Sellers, then so be it.

I feel that Lelong is also going the right direction with this limit as Lelongers would know that there are just too many duplicated items that make the user-experience, especially for Buyers, horrendous. It is no longer a joy looking for bargains when you are seeing the same old things wherever you surf to!

Let’s hope that Lelong will continue to grow but remain as simple and free to use as it was when it first started.
